I just saw a FB post that wished the state of Hawaii a "Happy Birthday!" So I checked to see when it became a state...1959... Wow, guess I didn't realize there weren't 50 states forever! So I checked to see what this fall's college freshman never lived with.....or without.
- "Caramel macchiato" and "venti half-caf vanilla latte" have always been street corner lingo.
- DNA fingerprinting and maps of the human genome have always existed.
- Freshmen have never worried about a Russian missile strike on the U.S.
- Having hundreds of cable channels but nothing to watch has always been routine.
- John McEnroe has never played professional tennis.
- Second-hand smoke has always been an official carcinogen.
- Clint Eastwood is better known as a sensitive director than as Dirty Harry.
- Fergie is a pop singer, not a princess.
- Computers have always had a CD-ROM disk drive.
- Nirvana is on the classic oldies station.
- Freshmen have never pointed to their wrists to request the time.
- Reggie Jackson has always been enshrined in Cooperstown.
- Korean cars have always been a staple on American highways.
- "Viewer Discretion" has always been an available warning on TV shows.
- Freshmen never twisted the coiled handset wire aimlessly around their wrists while chatting on the phone.
- Czechoslovakia has never existed.
- Bud Selig has always been the Commissioner of Major League Baseball.
- Toothpaste tubes have always stood up on their caps.
- The Post Office has always been going broke :-)
- Silicone-gel breast implants have always been regulated
- Most freshman knew Magic Johnson was HIV positive before they even knew he played basketball
- They have no idea what RSVP means( I know a few adults who don't either)
- 2 20 something police officers in New Jersey stopped Bob Dylan and had No idea who he was!
- They've never known a world without Internet, flat screen tvs or chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream!
- And, they've never used a card catalogue, lived without Cartoon Network, or seen a war unfold anywhere but on TV...
