Sadness

Yesterday was filled with sadness. A young, local Mom was murdered in the nearby city of Auburn.  The circumstances are yet unclear but it appears that it was a crime of passion..or lack thereof... A disgruntled boyfriend in whom she had recently found some fear.  Police were called to her upper class neighborhood after midnight when her dogs were unattended outside and barking. They were able to enter the home finding no sign of Katie but a sleeping 18 month old upstairs.  Her body was found yesterday afternoon on a pedestrian trail covered with fresh dirt.  Katie was 29, a traveling nurse in the surgical ICU at University hospital in Syracuse. Although I personally didn't know Katie, she was a friend to several gals that I know well. There is no rhyme or reason to this despicable crime. The unthinkable cannot be understood. A wonderful life of serving others, a beautiful motherless child who will never personally know her Mommy, a life ended with no concern for what she would continue to accomplish.  No excuses.....he should pay and pay with a life that means all he may have hoped to be will be snuffed out as well. I'm not really a vindictive person BUT....he should be reminded of the consequences of his actions for decades to come.  Just another reason to pass out the hugs, the I love yous and the thank yous to all who deserve them the most.... Life is short.
